WHITLEY ROSE QUEEN

ROSE QUEEN AGM 7.30pm WEDNESDAY 24th APRIL Whitley Village Hall

Whitley Rose Queen Fete first took place in June 1947 when Joan Hesp was crowned our first ever Whitley Rose Queen. It has continued every year (apart from 1966 and 1967) and now more than ever the committee strives to retain the traditional feel of a village fete.

The fete day is held on the 2nd Saturday of June with the parade leaving Whitley Village School at 1.30pm.

The procession is led by a Silver Band followed by school children, Pre-school children and various other organisations taking part. The parade walks to Whitley Village Hall field where we see the new Queen been crowned followed by an afternoon of entertainment which in the past has included The Great Whitley Pig Race, wellie throwing, gymnastics, dancing displays, tug of war and many more stalls and games. Refreshments are available by way of a BBQ, cream teas and a licensed bar.
